ROCK   NEW New 2009 CD. 10 songs, 6 covers of his old songs and 4 new original tracks. As usual an astonishing set of songs in the traditional Battiato style.

PROGRESSIVE   The Minstrel, the Italian progressive rock band, was founded by Aldo and Gianpaolo Pasini in 1991. From the very beginning the band stood out for the research and the originality of their compositions, which were the steady features of the group, although most of the members have changed in the last few years. The Minstrel, besides taking part in several important national festivals, released 2 recordings: the demo-tape “New Life”, 1997, which had good reviews, and “FAUST”, a CD distributed by KALIPHONIA. That latest work was reviewed as the best opening CD in some mags. FAUST, inspired by Goethe masterpiece, was conceived as a short rock opera in two parts, with a Prelude and a Finale. As a matter of fact, two musical traditions meet in the work: opera and progressive rock. From the first, they took the use of the Leitmotiv, the Fugato and the Recitativo, a descriptive musical style, and above all the so called ‘all’italiana’ long melodic line, which shows up the sound of the Italian Language and helps the singers interpret the characters. While from Rock music they made the best of the tonal possibilities, the odd tempos and the strong musical effect such a kind of music offers. The aim was to compose a sort of descriptive, theatrical music, with deep cultural origins but quite easy for the listeners. I Minstrel, gruppo Rock progressivo bergamasco, nascono nel 1991 dalla volontà di Aldo e Gianpaolo Pasini. Sin dagli esordi, il gruppo, si contraddistingue per ricerca ed originalità delle composizioni, caratteristica che rimarrà invariata nonostante i numerosi cambi di formazione avvenute negli anni successivi. Oltre a svariate partecipazioni a manifestazioni importanti a livello nazionale, i Minstrel possono vantare la realizzazione di due lavori a livello discografico, regolarmente registrati negli archivi S.I.A.E.: un demo-tape dal titolo “New Life” inciso nel 1997 ed accolto con favore dalla critica ed un CD “FAUST”, distribuito dall’etichetta discografica KALIPHONIA e recentemente recensito come miglior CD emergente su alcune riviste specializzate del settore, che andiamo brevemente a presentare. Diciamo subito che la caratteristica principale del lavoro è che il CD è stato pensato e realizzato come una piccola opera in due atti, con un Preludio ed un Finale, traendo ispirazione dall’omonimo capolavoro Goethiano. Per la realizzazione della musica, così ricca di spunti letterari, si è cercato di unire due tradizioni musicali ben definite: l’opera lirica ed il Rock progressivo. Dall’opera lirica si sono presi in prestito l’uso dei Leitmotiv, forme classiche come il Fugato ed il Recitativo, la musica descrittiva e soprattutto l’utilizzo di una melodia lunga detta “all’italiana”, in modo da esaltare le caratteristiche fonetiche della nostra lingua e l’interpretazione dei personaggi. Dalla giovane tradizione Rock si sono sfruttate le possibilità tonali, i tempi dispari ed in generale il grosso impatto sonoro-strumentale che la musica Rock riesce a generare. L’obbiettivo finale era creare una musica che potesse: descrivere al meglio le scene, avere profonde radici e tradizione culturale e che al contempo risultasse piacevole all’ascolto.

PROGRESSIVE   NEW SADO is back! In this performance the band brings one of its typical trademark to an extreme by playing weird cover versions of some well-known pieces of Italian repertorie (among them songs by Dalton, Cugini di campagna and Alan Sorrenti) but as always in their usual, genial approach! In their own words the tracks are “revisited through performance techniques based on deconstructive patterns inspired by Jacques Derrida’s thoughts overlapping life and works of Benedetto Croce”. In our words an absolutely crazy, extreme and adventurous blend of jazz rock, experimental, avant-prog in the vein of Area, Picchio dal Pozzo, Yugen. Tracklist: Mille lire al mese (Gilberto Mazzi)/ Anima Mia (Cugini di campagna)/ Binario / Bambola (Patti Pravo)/ Monia (Dalton)/ Brava (Mina)/ Donna / Figli delle stelle (Alan Sorrenti) Sono tornati i SADO! In questo nuovo CD la formazione Vercellese porta agli estremi una delle sue caratteristiche peculiari, ovvero l’ eseguire bizzarre cover di brani del repertorio della canzone italiana (tra cui Dalton, Cugini di campagna e Alan Sorrenti), il tutto ovviamente nel loro consueto e geniale approccio iconoclasta! In parole loro i brani sono “rivisitati dal vivo mediante tecniche di esecuzione basate su modelli decostruttivi ispirati al pensiero di Jacques Derrida sovrapposti alla vita e le opere di Benedetto Croce”. In parole nostre è una miscela completamente folle ed estrema di jazz rock, sperimentazione, avant-prog nella migliore tradizione di Area, Picchio dal Pozzo, Yugen. ROCK   NEW The Swami were born in 2003 in Milan, when Livio “Liv” Macchia, vocals, guitar (homonym son of Livio Macchia, singer of the Italian band “Camaleonti”) meet Marco Mantovani, bass guitar, voice and chorus. The band was finally completed in 2006 with the arrival of Giorgio Campera, Hammond, Rodhes, Moog, Piano and Davide Lepido, drums and percussions. The Swami are the only band that combines the unique stile of the 60’s and 70’s with the modern rock by constantly researching and use of many different instruments. To date they have composed over 80 songs and self made their own cds, recorded over 100 hours of live performances, 3 self-made videos and over than 250 live performance in U.E. from pubs to festival. 30 of Sept. 2009 is the relase date for the new debut mini Album "POEMS and SHOES" (Camaleo-Goldmine / B.T.F.), including six songs recorded in 2008 at Massive Arts Studios (Milan), the new videoclip of "Silver Haze" (DaDa prod.) and extra special contents with recently video live, recorded the Sept. 2009 and mixed at Medastudios l’Isola (Milano) The last band broductions combine different art ways; The Dance, into the new "Silver Haze" videoclip from the great collaboration with the HDT (Hinterland Dance Company); the visual art, into the paiting created for the new album cover by Giovanni Talami from Bonelli (Dylan Dog, Tex Willer, Martin Mystère, Magico Vento, ...) In the past...in 2004 the band recorded and filmed a tribute video to Pink Floyd, “See Emily Play” In 2007 the band started preparing for the production of their first official album. In the meantime they have also filmed a second video for a new song “ERA”, presented alongside a short filming with comments from people in the showbiz, music and art. The 2009/2010 live tour date is coming, whit great show in Rome and Milan in Dec.2009/Gen. Feb. 2010. Gli Swami nascono nel 2003 a Milano dall’incontro fra Livio “Liv” Macchia, voce, chitarre (omonimo figlio di Livio Macchia, cantante dei Camaleonti) e Marco Mantovani, basso, voce e cori. La band trova la sua stabilità nel 2006 con l’ingresso di Giorgio Campera, Hammond, Rodhes, Moog, Pianoforte e Davide Lepido, batteria, percussioni. Gli Swami sono gli unici ad unire l’inconfondibile stile anni ‘60/’70 con l’indie Rock contemporaneo, tramite la continua ricerca e l’utilizzo di diversi strumenti. In data attuale hanno oltre 80 canzoni con relativi CD autoprodotti, decine di ore di video Live, 3 videoclip autoprodotti con oltre 250 live show in Italia e all’Estero dai locali ai festival. Il 30 Settembre 2009 esce il mini Album di esordio della band, "POEMS and SHOES" (Camaleo – Goldmine / B.T.F.). L'album contiene cinque brani più uno registrati nel 2008 presso il Massive Arts Studios di Milano, il videoclip del brano "Silver Haze" (DaDa prod.) e dei contenuti speciali extra con recenti registrazioni video Live effettuate nel Settembre del 2009 mixate al Medastudios l’Isola di Milano. Tutto l'album è completamente autoprodotto. Le ultime produzioni della band, conbinano differenti stili artistici; la danza, per quanto riguarda il nuovo videoclip grazie alla compagnia di danza HDT (Hinterland Dance Theatre); La Pittura, nel disegno della copertina del'album creato per la band da Giovanni Talami della Bonelli (Dylan Dog, Tex Willer, Martin Mystère, Magico Vento, etc...) Tornando indietro nel tempo, nel 2004 registrano e girano il videoclip tributo al brano dei Pink Floyd “See Emily Play”. Contemporaneamente alle pre-registrazioni per il nuovo album, girano il secondo videoclip del brano inedito “ERA”, accompagnato da un cortometraggio in cui vengono raccolte le emozioni e i commenti istintivi espressi dopo la prima visione del videoclip, da personaggi del mondo dello spettacolo, musica e arte. Il tour del 2009/2010 è alle porte con grandi shows a Roma e Milano organizzati per Dicembre 2009 / Gennaio e Febbraio 2010.
